Elevating Excellence Award: December

December’s "Elevating Excellence Award" winner has helped all our schools to align interventions that meet the unique needs of all our students.

Kathryn Hardesty serves as the Lead Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Coordinator for the District and Old Kings Elementary School. It’s a job that keeps her busy, but she says it is an extremely important and rewarding job.

In nominating Hardesty, Old Kings Principal Nicole Critcher says,

“Kathryn goes above and beyond to make sure students are receiving the interventions they need to be successful. She works closely with teachers, staffing specialists, school psychologists, and district staff on best practices for the MTSS process. Kathryn has developed processes and procedures for MTSS that have been successful at the school level and are now being used at the district level.”

Flagler Schools Superintendent Cathy Mittelstadt made a surprise visit to Old Kings Elementary just before the winter break, telling Hardesty, “You are doing important work, not only here at Old Kings, but all across the district. What you are doing now is going to have an impact on us for years to come.”

Flagler County Education Foundation Director Teresa Rizzo was also on hand to support this monthly honor.
